Polish pay TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat has denied it is interested in buying domestic web portal Wirtualnej Polski from France Telcom-owned Polish telco TPSA.
In a statement issued Friday, Cyfrowy Polsat said that though some synergies could be identified between Wirtualnej Polski and its own Ipla OTT web service, the pricetag of the Wirtualnej Polski assets would have to be “at least two times” lower than the reported ZL500 million for it to be interested.
Cyfrowy Polsat added that it sees no direct synergy between the activities of Wirtualnej Polski in the areas of broadcasting, television production and pay TV.
Last week Reuters reported that Cyfrowy Polsat had entered the race for Wirtualnej Polski, the country’s number two web portal behind Onet which Germany’s Axel Springer and Switzerland’s Ringier bought last year from Polish TV network TVN.
