Polish pay TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat has bought TV4 and TV6 broadcaster Polskie Media and sold its RSTV broadcast transmission business to Emitel.
The Polskie Media deal was agreed for PLN99 million (€23.7 million) and is due to be finalised in July, while the RSTV deal is worth PLN45.5 million.
Cyfrowy Polsat said the acquisition of digital terrestrial networks TV4 and TV6 were part of its strategy to strengthen its market position by increasing Polsat viewing.
Emitel is acquiring RSTV’s assets used in digital TV and radio broadcasting and telecommunications services. The firm said the deal was an important stepping stone for “delivering its strategy to develop an independent telecoms tower operator.”
