Russian state-backed telecom operator Rostelecom reported a 12% year-on-year increase in pay TV subscribers to 6.6 million, it announced.
Detailing its Q4 and full-year 2012 earnings, the firm added that since launching its single interactive TV platform in May 2012, its number of subscribers doubled to 1.4 million giving Rostelecom a 49% share of the Interactive TV market.
“In 2012 all managers’ and employees’ efforts were focused on strengthening Rostelecom’s competitive position. We started to actively explore breakthrough areas of the business, such as – mobile broadband and pay-TV,” said of Rostelecom senior vice president Pavel Zaitsev.
For the full year, Rostelecom’s revenues were up 7% year-on-year to RUB 321.3 billion (€8 billion). However, revenue came in at RUB35.2 billion, down from RUB42.5 billion a year earlier.
