Telefónica, Zon, Bouygues and Zitter amongst TV Connect awards winners

Spain’s Telefónica Digital, Portugal’s Zon TV Cabo and France’s Bouygues Telecom were the among the main service provider winners at the TV Connect Awards last night.

Telefónica Digital took the coveted Best Multiscreen TV Service award for its Global Video Service platform, with Virgin Media’s TiVo and TV Anywhere also being highly commended.

The award for Best On the Move TV Service went to Zon TV Cabo for the Zon Online service, while Bouygues Telecom took the top prize in the Best TV Experience Enhancement category for the Bbox tab, with technology vendor Viaccess-Orca being highly commended for its DEEP solution.

Bob Zitter, executive vice-president and chief technology officer at HBO was presented with the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry. The award for the Best TV App went to AT&T for its U-verse Easy Remote product, while Telekom Malaysia’s Hypp TV was named Best Live Online TV service or Solution.

Among technology vendors, Best Multiscreen TV Solution went to Motorola Mobility for Medios+, with Verimatrix also being highly commended for its ViewRight One solution. Broadpeak won in the Best Network Technology for IPTV and OTT TV category with its C-CAS technology, with Mariner’s Mariner xVu solution being highly commended.

Minerva Networks’ iTVFusion product was named Best SDP for IPTV and OTT TV, while Dune HD’s Connect won in the Best TV Consumer Device category.

The award for Best Cloud or CDN Service Delivery went to Ericsson for its Media Delivery Network, while SoftAtHome’s LiveBox Play was named Best Digital Home Service Innovation.

Access won the award for Best Component or Enabler for the NetFront Browser NX. The Special Category Award for Best New Route to Multiscreen Monetisation went to ZTE for innovative service and delivery of Jiangsu Telecom’s IPTV service, with Verimatrix’s VCAS for DASH solution also being highly commended.
