Bulgarian-based telco Neterra has signed a deal with Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) to launch a new white-label DTH platform called W1 that will offer pay TV services in the country.
Neterra has contracted two transponders on TSBc’s Thor 6 satellite, located at the 1˚West position, targeted at central and Eastern Europe, and will use the capacity to distribute video in Bulgaria.
Neterra said it aims to use the platform to offer “a bouquet of premium-quality channels,” with the first operators expected to launch networks on the platform within the next few months.
TSBc’s commercial director Lars Janols said: “1˚West is now a well-recognised broadcast position in CEE and reaches more than 17 million households across Europe. We are seeing a more buoyant take-up of pay-tv services within this region and we welcome and look forward to working with Neterra in developing its DTH proposition for the Bulgarian market.”
