Ridley Scott making 12 projects for Machinima

Ridley Scott is making 12 short films with online video site Machinima.

The projects will be made by Scott’s production company RSA and could, if successful, become full-length features.

Scott will not direct any of the dozen projects, but will have an executive producer role.

The filmmaker said: “With new media transforming the way audiences connect with films and filmmakers, Machinima is a great partner for us as we embark on this new model of delivering original content to fans. It’s a tremendous opportunity for pushing the creative boundaries for both our filmmakers and the audience,” said Scott in a statement.

Machinima has grown from video-game-based mash-ups to running professionally produced content. It recently debuted Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, the live-action show based on the Halo video game franchise, on its site.
