US-based Roku has launched a third generation of its web-streaming set-top box, with a new interface and remote control.
Announcing the new box, the firm said Roku 3 was more than five times faster than its previous players, and that the new interface layout is designed to make it easier to access channels and content. The new remote includes a headphone jack that viewers can plug in to in order to mute their TV’s speakers.
The new box is available now in the US, priced US$99.99 (€77), through online retailers including Amazon and Roku’s own site. Retail chains will start selling the box in April. Roku is also due to roll out the new interface to older Roku models as a free software update from next month.
