Sports channel Eurosport has secured a four-year extension of its rights to the Giro d’Italia cycling race.
Eurosport Group and RCS Sport, represented by IMG Media, its worldwide audiovisual rights consultant, extended their existing long-term partnership for an additional four years with extended and upgraded live production and broadcasting in HD for the first time.
The deal covers the 2013-16 period and grants Eurosport TV and digital rights for the Giro d’Italia as well as five other major Italian cycling races: Milan-San Remo, the Giro di Lombardia, Tirreno-Adriatico, Strade Bianche and Roma Maxima.
The agreement covers the 70 territories in which Eurosport is present in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. For the first time it also includes exclusive rights in 59 countries including the UK, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Poland.
