Vodafone has put on hold its plan to approach German cable operator Kabel Deutschland with an acquisition offer after news of the possible bid was leaked, according to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the leaking of news of the potential offer complicated internal discussion, and a plan to contact the cable operator after its latest earnings report was put on ice.
Vodafone may still decide to make a bid at some point, said the report.
Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao said yesterday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that his company would launch “unified services across Europe” including fixed broadband and pay TV and that he was looking at a number of potential acquisition targets.
