Tanzanian minister hails switchover success

Tanzania has successfully completed digital switchover, beating the ITU’s 2015 deadline by over two years, the country’s communication minister has said, according to local reports.

Minister of communication, science and technology Makame Mbarawa announced the completion on the occasion of a visit to Dar-es-Salaam by a delegation from Zambia headed by information and broadcasting services minister Mwansa Kapeya.

Mbarawa said Tanzania had become the first East African country to migrate to digital after completing the process at the end of last year.
