Modern Times Group (MTG) has inked new carriage deals for its free-to-air channels TV3 and TV3 Puls.
The channels will be carried on the Canal Digital platform in Denmark, marking the first time that they have been on the Telenor-owned platform.
Separately, MTG said it will add SBS’s free-to-air Danish channels, Kanal and Kanal 5 to its own Viasat pay TV offering in the country.
MTG said that the agreements will significantly increase the household penetration of MTG’s free channels in Denmark and strengthen MTG’s Viasat pay TV offering, which now comprises all of the major free-TV channels in Denmark.
Canal Digital will include TV3 and TV3 Puls in its ‘Local’ satellite pay-TV package from the beginning of February.
Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, president and CEO of MTG, said: “The groundbreaking agreements we have signed over the last few months will be transformational for our Danish TV broadcasting business. They will substantially strengthen the competitive positions of both our free TV and pay TV offerings, and provide incremental advertising, subscription and carriage fee revenue potential moving forward.”
