Armenia moves forward with satellite plan
Armenia is moving forwards with plans to launch its first satellite and has reportedly signed a MoU with Russian satellite manufacturer ISS Reshetnev to build the craft, and has looked to Canada-based MDA Information Systems to provide additional technology for the project.
Transport and communications minister Gagik Beglaryan Iskander told local press that Armenia had submitted a filing with the ITU to secure rights at the 71.4° East orbital slot. Armenia is working on a plan to share frequencies at the slot with the Russian Space Agency.
Armenia currently leases capacity from Eutelsat at 13° East and 36° East for national TV broadcasts.
