KDG sees premium TV growth

German cable operator Kabel Deutschland added 81,000 premium TV RGUs during the second quarter ending September 30, bringing the total premium TV RGU base to 1.9 million.

Of those additions, new DVR customers accounted for 47,000 with the remaining coming from pay TV customers.  KDG’s growing premium TV penetration has seen total blended TV ARPU increase to €10.32, up from €9.80 a year earlier.

TV revenues increased by 3.6% year-on-year to €296 million.

The cable operator increased its broadband RGU base by 74,000 in the quarter, taking the total to 1.7 million, up 280,000 year-on-year. Over 35% of new customers are choosing the 100Mbps service, KDG said.

KDG’s total subscriber base now stands at 7.6 million, up 60,000 year-on-year. Total RGUs reached 13.9 million at the end of the quarter, up 6.3%.

KDG reported second quarter revenues of €453 million, up from €418 million a year earlier. EBITDA was up 8.5% to €213 million.
