Hungary continues to increase digital TV base

Hungary’s digital TV penetration increased to around 61.9% at the end of September from 61.4% at the end of June.

Using figures from the top 12 pay TV operators, communications regulator NMHH predicts that out of the approximately four million households in Hungary, over 3.2 million pay for a TV service.

The number of cable and IPTV subscribers taking a digital TV service increased to 789,000 from 780,000 at the end of June. The number of digital satellite customers remained stable at 920,000.

UPC remained the country’s leading cable operator with a market share of 28.1%, followed by Magyar Telekom with 20% and Digi with 17.2%.
