The urban life channel, Heartbeat Berlin, will be centred on life in Berlin and is the brainchild of UFA Lab, which will also produce the content, supported by teamWorx and Grundy Light Entertainment. Kristian Costa-Zahn, head of creation at UFA Lab, will act as creative producer. The crime channel, Trigger, is a collaboration between UFA Lab and UFA Fernsehproduktion. Jörg Winger, SOKO Leipzig producer, will head up the channel.

According to YouTube, its top 25 channels now average over one million views a week, with 800 million users watching four billion hours a month of YouTube content.

FremantleMedia earlier this year launched The Pet Collective and THNKR on YouTube, taking the number of channels it operates on the platform to 90 across 18 territories.
