A new report from video ad specialist Smartclips has found that 70% of people with internet connected TVs use the online functions.
The survey of 1,536 14-49 year-olds found that 56% own a device that makes it possible to use the internet via a TV screen, whether directly via a smart TV, or via a connected TV device such as a Blu-ray player or a gaming console.
Irrespective of the device used, 26% of respondents said they nearly always use the internet whilst watching the TV, with a further 37% saying they use the internet frequently whilst watching the TV. Two-thirds of tablet owners said they use the internet frequently whilst watching TV.
When asked what was interesting about connected TV, 84% stated the non-linear viewing of TV and movies. Less than half chose looking for products from TV or online adverts.
