Sky Italia has ruled itself out of the running to acquire Telecom Italia Media’s La7 network.
The pay TV operator issued a statement rebutting press reports that it was looking at buying the general entertainment channel that is operated by the television unit of Telecom Italia. “A Sky Italia spokesperson stated that the company’s CEO Andrea Zappia clarified in June that Sky’s expression of interest was limited to gaining access to Telecom Italia Media’s financial data and that it had no intention of buying the company,” it said.
Broadcaster Mediaset has also ruled itself out of the running, while Discovery and Hutchison Whampoa are still believed to be interested in the business.
