ANT offers social media integration

TV software company ANT has added social media functionality to its multiscreen app, ANT Galio Move.

Galio Move, which launched last year, now enables viewers to watch TV and interact with social media on the same screen. It also analyses programme metadata to provide links to additional associated online content.

ANT Galio Move allows consumers to stream live and recorded TV to tablets and smartphones within the home. Viewers can watch the same programme or another live or recorded programme on their connected devices without interrupting the main TV. Users can also update Facebook or Twitter while they watch TV content on the companion device. Galio Move suggests the appropriate hashtags on Twitter and presents additional, relevant online content to the viewer. By using programme metadata from broadcast signals, the app can provide links to Wikipedia for additional programme and actor information, movie trailers on YouTube, or a soundtrack on iTunes, for example.

“For TV device manufacturers ANT Galio Move provides significant free-to-air product differentiation, while for broadcasters and operators, it enhances and adds value to an existing service,” said Pauline Ingram, acting CEO at ANT. “ANT Galio Move’s direct connection to the TV device is key to delivering additional, relevant, associated content and intelligent social media integration.”
