ALi teams up with Panasonic for DVB-T2 chipset

Set-top system-on-a-chip provider ALi Corp has teamed up with Panasonic Corporation’s semiconductor business group to begin mass production of a new DVB-T2 set-top solution in the third quarter of 2012.

“ALi has been well positioned in the DTT market with a significant global market share. The business opportunities of DVB-T2 come from upgrade of the already prevailing DVB-T to the T2 standard and direct transition from analogue to T2 in emerging markets. We are glad to ally with Panasonic Semiconductor, a reputable name in LSI technology for TV, to seize these opportunities,” said Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s International Business Unit.

The joint solution will be targeted at DVB-T2 markets in regions including eastern Europe, the Asia Pacific and Africa.
