Google TV to launch in Germany next week

Sony has confirmed that its Google TV device will launch in Germany next week.

Sony will begin selling the NSZ-GS7 set-top box in Germany by the end of August for €199. This follows last month’s launch in the UK, marking Google’s first foray into Europe with its connected TV platform.

Based on Android software, the boxes let viewers access a range of apps and interactive services optimised for TV, including Twitter and Google-owned YouTube. A dual-sided remote control with QWERTY keyboard on one side and a touch pad on the other side is supplied with the boxes, which can also be controlled with a smartphone or tablet via the free Media Remote app

Sony is the first manufacturer to launch Google TV products outside the US, with further European launches to follow in France, Germany and the Netherlands.
