Cablenet selects Broadpeak for VOD services

Content delivery networks specialist Broadpeak has announced that Cypriot cable operator Cablenet has deployed its BkM100 Mediator content delivery network manager and BkS100 on-demand video servers to power its new digital cable service.

Broadpeak’s BkS100 VOD server ingests video assets and delivers them to Cablenet set-top boxes based on subscriber demand. Cablenet can incrementally add storage capacity to support an increasing amount of VOD and time-shift content. Broadpeak’s BkM100 CDN Manager maximises content delivery based on the type of service and customer location. By continuously monitoring the popularity of content based on usage patterns, it automatically pushes popular content to the edge of the servers, while long-tail content remains on the larger central library.

“The capability to deliver high-quality VOD and time-shift TV services is critical to our company’s success,” said Nicolas Shiacolas, managing director of Cablenet. “Broadpeak content delivery network technology streamlines the deployment of our new VOD and time-shift TV services while providing us with the flexibility to integrate OTT video delivery in the future – all from a single, unified platform – making it a perfect future-proof solution.”

Broadpeak will be exhibiting at IBC on stand 4.B72
