UK passes high-speed milestone

The UK had over two million very high-speed broadband subscribers at the beginning of July, according to research from Point Topic.

According to the research group, about 10% of UK fixed-line broadband connections can be classified as ‘super-fast’ today, based on a threshold of 25Mbps.

According to Point Topic, the UK now has 21.3 million fixed broadband lines, up 175,000 on the previous quarter, with super-fast lines up 600,000. Virgin Media was responsible for most of the latter, with BT adding 150,000 high-speed customers.
