UPC Austria claims victory in A1 advertising case

Liberty Global-owned pay TV operator UPC Austria has claimed victory in a court case over allegedly misleading advertising by A1/Telekom Austria.

UPC has won an injunction issued by the Vienna Commercial Court calling on A1 to cease using the ads, which compared the pair’s bundled offerings with the claim that A1’s offering was cheaper. UPC’s case was based on the fact that the offerings were not comparable, as A1’s consisted of broadband and TV, while UPC’s offering also included telephony.
