Box TV launches in Africa

UK channel operator Box TV is launching its Box TV channel across Africa.

The music broadcaster has inked carriage deals with Top TV, the region’s second largest satellite platform, and Kenyan pay TV platform Zuku. The channel will feature local content including programming from Nigerian hip hop artist Ice Prince and Afrobeat artist D’Banj.

Scott Monks, Box TV’s director of international, said: “The launch of Box within this market is a testament to the success of the existing channels and is a response to platform and viewer demand.  Audiences told us they loved our music channels and asked us to add a complimentary channel with all the quality and artist access of our other channels but with the addition of some local music with a hip hop and R’n’B slant.”
