Pay TV drives Naspers growth

Pay TV operator Multichoice helped owner Naspers report a 19% increase in consolidated revenue to R39.5 billion (€3.8 billion) for the year ended March 31.

The company’s pay TV business recorded 684,000 new subscribers and now reaches 5.6 million households across the African continent. This growth delivered a 15% increase in revenues to R24.1 billion.

In South Africa, the company added 492 000 new pay TV households, of which 293,000 chose the lower-priced Compact bouquet. The country now accounts for four million subs. The other markets in which Naspers offers pay TV services added a total of 192,000 new customers to reach a total of 1.6 million homes.
