Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) has closed its general entertainment channel TNT in Turkey. The broadcaster has closed the channel “with immediate effect” as a result of poor performance.
“TNT Turkey has not performed and grown according to the business plan. This led to a thorough business review, which concluded with this carefully considered decision,” the company noted in a statement.
However, the company, which is owned by Time Warner, said it remained committed to its other Turkish channels including CNN Turk and Cartoon Network Turkey. “Turner will continue to explore expansion opportunities in this important market,” it added.
