América Móvil takes stake in Telekom Austria

Latin American telecom operator América Móvil has acquired a 21% stake in Telekom Austria.

The deal will see the Mexican company acquire the stake through Marathon Zwei Beteiligungs, a wholly owned subsidiary of RPR Privatstiftung, and will it initially acquire 5% before buying the remaining 16% after receiving government approval. This is the company’s second deal in Europe after it bought a 28% stake in Dutch operator KPN.
Telekom Austria operates IPTV service A1 and has over 204,700 subscribers.
