Zeop, a cable and fibre operator in La Réunion, the French overseas department in the Indian Ocean, has partnered with set-top and home gateway company Netgem (Stand Q28) to launch next generation TV services.
Using over-the-top delivery, Netgem’s hybrid solution enables Zeop to extend its reach through HFC network and FTTH, and to offer new features, including video-on-demand and catch-up TV. For this new service, Netgem will deliver its N5200 set-top boxes integrating the company’s middleware. The service will go live in summer 2012.
Martin Vigneau, chief technology officer of Zeop, said: “As a HFC and FTTx operator, managing various technologies, we wanted a single solution responding to two needs: upgrading our existing HFC network and deploying fibre-to-the-home. Netgem’s solution was the perfect fit for these two needs. Moreover, it is cost effective and very quick to deploy. Netgem’s technologies, through the use of adaptive streaming guarantee a great quality of service and we can now offer best in class TV experiences using OTT.”
