German cable operators Unitymedia and Kabel BW and technology company Cisco (Stand J13) are demonstrating 1.5Gbps broadband delivery at ANGA Cable.
The trial uses the DOCSIS3.0 standard, the same used by the operators to commercially offer 150Mbps services. “The test shows that fibre optics-based cable networks have enormous potential,” said Uwe Barmann, chief technology officer of Unitymedia.
The trial is being carried out in ‘real’ conditions and the connection is being used to deliver digital services, including 30 HD channels.
