Movie network Shorts International has hired former MGM Channel Central Europe executive Philip Mordecai as president of its European operation.
Mordecai, who was previously general manager of the MGM-owned network and has also held roles at ChelloZone, SES and BSkyB, will be in charge of growing the short movie channel’s business in Europe and will report to CEO and founder Carter Pilcher.
Shorts International launched in Europe earlier this year, launching a standard definition, HD and video-on-demand library via UPC Netherlands. The channel, which is available via DirecTV and AT&T in the US, is also available in France via Numericable, in Turkey via TTNET and in Belgium and Luxembourg.
“Philip brings with him comprehensive experience in television that incorporates a forward-looking perspective that will greatly contribute to accelerating our growth. We are immensely thrilled to have him join the Shorts International family,” said Pilcher.
