Six new DTT channels will launch in France on December 12, the country’s communications regulator the CSA said yesterday.
TF1’s HD1 channel and NRJ Group’s Cherie HD and Amaury Group’s L’Equipe HD will be on the R7 multiplex. Three other channels, M6’s 6ter channel, NextRadioTV’s RMC Découverte and TVous la Diversité will be on the R8 multiplex.
At launch the channels will have 25% coverage of the French population in the major cities of Paris, Bordeaux, Marseilles, Bayonne and Auxerre.
The announcement caps a process that began last year when the CSA called for applicants to launch six new channels on the DTT platform. The regulator received 31 applications for the channels.
