Microsoft has unveiled SmartGlass for Xbox, a new product designed to allow the games console’s users to transfer videos between different devices as well as to control video games from smartphones and tablets.
Xbox SmartGlass will be available for Windows 8 PCs, Windows phones and will also be made available on the Android and iOS platforms. Microsoft says the product will enable viewers to begin watching movies on tablets and transfer them to the TV via the Xbox 360. SmartGlass can also serve as a companion screen tool to enable viewers to access additional content on second screen devices.
Microsoft also plans to launch a version of Internet Explorer for the Xbox later this year, which will enable users to use the SmartGlass app as a virtual keyboard to surf the web, with pages displayed on the TV.
