Deutsche Telekom could take Sky’s football offering

Deutsche Telekom and Sky Deutschland are reportedly close to a deal that could see the former close down its Liga Total! service and take football coverage from the latter.

According to the Financial Times Deutschland, under the deal, Sky would be responsible for providing football coverage for Deutsche Telekom’s Entertain IPTV service. The move follows Sky’s winning of Bundesliga football rights on all platforms in April. Deutsche Telekom had previously held the IPTV rights to top-tier German football. Sky had said it was willing to strike a deal for the complete range of its coverage rather than a sub-licensing deal for the IPTV rights that would have allowed Deutsche Telekom to continue producing its own coverage.

However, according to the report, the pair have yet to agree on what price Telekom would pay, and negotiations could take several months.
