Canal Plus France, with pay TV operations in mainland France, overseas territories and Africa, attracted 211,000 new subscribers during the first quarter, ending March with a total of 12,817,000 customers.
Canal Plus France’s revenues increased slightly to €1.03 billion from €1 billion at the end of March 2011. In France, ARPU increased by €0.50 to €47.6 despite a rise in VAT.
In Poland and Vietnam, the Vivendi-owned operator attracted 81,000 pay TV customers, ending March with 1,720,000 subs.
Revenues from other Canal Plus Group operations, including production arm StudioCanal, resulted in an overall revenue increase of a 3.4% to €1.23 billion.
Vivendi-owned French telco SFR boosted the number of Neufbox Evolution customers by 122,000 in the quarter, taking the total number of subscribers to its next generation service to 711,000. Quad-play customers numbered 1.4 million at the end of March.
