TV technology provider SeaChange International has agreed to license Aprico’s content recommendation source code and other intellectual property rights from Royal Philips Electronics.
The agreement allows SeaChange to integrate Aprico’s personalised recommendation functionality into its Adrenalin multi-screen video back office platform. Aprico’s system finds, recommends and delivers personalised content to viewers via TV, PC or mobile, based on their profile, viewing behaviour and/or explicit inputs.
Aprico technology for both linear and on-demand services and recommendation models will be released with the Adrenalin multi-screen back office platform over the course of 2012.
“The acquisition of these intellectual property rights is part of SeaChange’s strategy to grow revenues through targeted investments and expansion into adjacent products,” said Raghu Rau, CEO, SeaChange.
