Swisscom sees solid TV growth

Swisscom had 655,000 IPTV customers at the end of the first quarter, up 39.7% year-on-year. The figure represented a quarter-on-quarter net addition of 47,000.

The company said that demand remained strong for its bundled offerings, including triple-play service Vivo Casa and its recently launched quad-play offering Vivo Tutto. By the end of March 2012 a total of 659,000 customers were using bundled products, 42% more than in the previous year.

Swisscom had 1.682 million retail broadband customers at the end of March, up 4.8% year-on-year.

Italian subsidiary Fastweb gained 59,000 new customers in the first quarter, taking its total to 1.65 million. However, revenue per residential broadband customer dropped by 10% year-on-year due to what Swisscom described as intense competition.

Swisscom posted revenues of CHF2.8 billion (€2.3 billion) for the quarter, down 2.01% and EBITDA of CHF1.1 billion, down 2%.
