Russian service provider VimpelCom, which operates under the Beeline brand, has launched its Beeline TV service in the southern Russian city of Sochi.

VimpelCom plans to sign up 10,000 customers in the city by the end of this year, according to broadband and digital TV director Timur Alyautdinov. The latest IPTV launch, in the 36th city to offer the service, follows one in the city of Cherevpovets in central European Russia. Beeline TV, based on the Microsoft Mediaroom platform, offers a Basic package with about 100 channels and a Max package with about 172 services.

Alyautdinov told local press that Beeline TV is used by an average of 40% of the company’s broadband subscriber base.
