NBC Universal’s female skewing cable broadcaster Style Network is to expand its international channels arm and ramp up its licensing and merchandising and digital businesses with the creation of a new umbrella company.
The firm has launched Style Media, which will bring together Style International, Style Digital, Style Licensing & Merchandising and Style Experiences into one company, operated by network boss Salaam Coleman Smith.
The move is similar to that of the move made by NBC Universal’s Bravo and comes just over a year after Style parent Comcast completed its acquisition of NBC Universal.
“Style is a powerful brand that resonates with women on multiple platforms and across the globe. The creation of Style Media will broaden our business and allow us to capitalise on Style’s strong consumer base of savvy women with immense purchasing power,” said Coleman Smith.
