Numericable passes high-speed milestone

French cable operator Numericable has passed the milestone of 500,000 subscribers to its 100Mbps internet service, including direct customers and those who take the white label service offered under the Bouygues Telecom, Darty and Auchan brands.

Numericable CEO Eric Denoyer told French journalists that no other French service provider could equal this total.
Numericable had signed up 200,000 customers to its new set-top box, offered as part of a triple-play subscription, at the end of last year.

Despite continuing investment in infrastructure, Denoyer said that the company’s debt was now no more than five times gross operating income, meaning that it was in better financial health than at any time since 2005.
