International news broadcaster CNN is to launch via digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Finland after local authorities granted it a licence.
The licence was granted to Turner Broadcasting Systems Europe by the Finnish government and will run until the end of 2016. The news channel has previously been available in the country via cable and satellite. Authorities have also granted DTT licences in the new F multiplex network to Canal Plus First HD and Canal Plus Sport HD; these channels will join international broadcasters Eurosport and the Discovery Channel on the country’s free-to-air digital service.
