US-based over-the-top TV specialist FlimOn.com has launched a new device that will enable users to watch over-the-air TV via iPhones and Android devices in the UK.
The Air tuner is a small device that can be attached to smartphones to enable them to pick of terrestrial TV broadcasts. FlimOn.com will make the device available to its UK and other European subscribers free of charge, enabling them to watch terrestrial TV on their computers and mobile devices. The company licences about 120 HD online TV channels, including its own sports channels for its app, but has struggled to strike deals to bring over-the-air national networks to the service.
In the UK an annual FilmOn subscription costs £149.95 (€180). For non-subscribers, the Air devices will be available for £95.95.
Separately, FilmOn has signed a global carriage deal to add Fox Entertainment Group’s Baby TV to its programming line-up.
