AirTies announces dual IPTV wins

Wireless technologies and set-top specialist AirTies has announced customer wins in Denmark and Iceland

As the exclusive set-top box provider for Danish IPTV operator Waoo, AirTies will deliver its multi-format Air7120 set-top box and Air7130 DVR to the operator. The agreement is in partnership with Danish IPTV middleware provider Nordija.

AirTies’ Air7120 and Air7130 devices support IPTV, over-the-to and video-on-demand. The Air7120 is equipped with an internal SATA hard disk and will enable Waoo subscribers to use DVR functionalities to pause, fast-forward or rewind live TV.

Waoo’s chief technology officer Aage Kudsk said: “Waoo works tirelessly to offer its customers the most advanced and most attractive IP products in the entertainment and communications sector. Working with AirTies will enable us to offer innovative and advanced, but also user-friendly, devices capable of delivering future IPTV services. AirTies’ approach to customer experience will also be a key driver in further establishing Waoo as a significant player in the IPTV market by offering a quality service unrivalled by its competitors.”

The company has also signed a deal with Icelandic operator Síminn to deliver the Air7120. AirTies said it would upgrade Síminn’s IPTV service to include next-generation set-top boxes that offer advanced graphics and HTML5. The Air7120 uses an Opera browser, has a JavaScript engine and simultaneously supports AES and DVB-CSA with Verimatrix Conditional Access System, according to AirTies.

Bülent Çelebi, CEO of AirTies Wireless Networks, said, “Working with Síminn presents us with great opportunities to bring our added value solutions and technologies to the market. We are delighted to announce our cooperation with Síminn in supplying them with AirTies latest generation high-definition set-top boxes. As with any other market, HD offers the consumer the opportunity to get the most out of their television viewing experience and the added benefit of digital video recording enables ultimate user convenience. We strongly believe that these are exciting times for Icelandic consumers and that this service will be highly successful.”
