Canal Plus and Al Jazeera reach compromise on Serie A rights

Pay TV group Canal Plus and Al Jazeera have agreed to share the French TV rights to Italian Serie A football for the next three seasons.

According to sports paper L’Équipe, Canal Plus will air one match each on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, while Al Jazeera will air the early evening match on Saturday and the Sunday evening fixture.

Canal Plus and Al Jazeera will also share Bundesliga rights in France, alternating for the choice of best fixture. MP & Silva, the group that sells both sets of rights in France, will receive a reported €22 million from the pair for the rights, doubling the amount they previously earned.
