Russian digital platform Tvigle Media has acquired 200 hours of programming from BBC Worldwide after striking a deal with the commercial arm of the British public broadcaster.
The agreement will see a raft of British series made available on Tvigle’s transactional and subscription video-on-demand services.
This marks the first deal between Tvigle Media, which has around nine million viewers, and BBC Worldwide. Shows available include period drama Upstairs Downstairs, comedy Mongrels, crime drama Luther and season three of superhero comedy drama Misfits.
“Tvigle is dedicated to bringing to our subscribers the best international content available, so we are very pleased to be partnering with BBC Worldwide for the first time to present this excellent selection of programming,” said Yegor Yakovlev, founder and chief executive, Tvigle.
