The free app has been downloaded 1.3 million times since it launched a year ago. The updated version includes 3G streaming for live and catch-up TV and radio programmes. It works across all UK mobile networks.
Following feedback from users about the video quality of the iPlayer Android app, the BBC has also improved the playback experience by including an updated Adobe Flash player.
