Portugal’s RTP has credit rating removed

Portuguese public broadcaster Radio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) has had its credit rating withdrawn by influential ratings agency Moody’s.

The agency cited ‘business reasons’ without elaborating, adding that its rating of a specific tranche of €800 million of RTP’s debt was removed after it was repaid. The RTP news came just days after Moody’s cut the rating for several countries including Portugal, which was downgraded to Ba3, referred in financial circles as ‘junk’ status.
