RTRS to broadcast DVB-T2 in five cities in second quarter

Russian state-owned broadcaster RTRS has confirmed that it will start broadcasting in the DVB-T2 format in five cities in the second quarter of this year.

RTRS deputy director-general Viktor Pinchuk said the broadcaster would start DVB-T2/H.264 broadcasts in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan, Volgograd and Krasnodar.

Areas of the country that have already begun digital broadcasts in the DVB-T format will be required to upgrade their infrastructure over the course of the next year.
