Sky Deutschland has passed the three million-subscriber mark.
Announcing its full year results, the German pay TV operator said it added 359,000 net customers last year, ending December with a total of 3,012,000. The operator also improved its customer retention with churn decreasing to 11% from 16% in 2010.
Take up of Sky’s Premium HD service increased by more than 60% to 974,000 customers, meaning a third of all customers paid for HD services at the end of 2011. DVR take-up increased tenfold, with 411,000 subscribing to Sky Plus in December compared to 39,000 a year earlier.
Sky Go, the operator’s multiscreen service for computers, iPads, iPhones and Xbox 360s, attracted 549,000 active users since launching in April. In the fourth quarter it achieved over four million unique viewing sessions.
Sky’s full year revenues increased by 17% to €1,139 million. EBITDA was up 42% to negative €155 million.
