Samsung expects to pass 20 million apps downloaded on its Smart TV platform around the end of this month, according to the consumer electronics giant’s European content services director, Dan Saunders.
Speaking to DTVE, Saunders said that Samsung expected to “touch 20 million” apps downloaded this month, having grown from one million downloads in October 2010 to 10 million a year later.
“The absolute numbers are not that interesting, but if you look at that against time spent [and] engagement with the Smart TV platform, you can see the shape of a growth curve that’s very exciting,” said Saunders.
