South African regulator The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has refused to grant permission for local pay TV operator TopTV to launch three adult entertainment channels.
The company had hoped to launch Playboy Europe, Private Spice and Adult XXX on its service but the regulator has turned down its application. ICASA has said that it would provide reasons later for its decision.
“We advise that the Council of the Authority decided, after careful consideration, to refuse On Digital Media Ltd’s application for the authorisation of the video channels,” ICASA said in a letter to TopTV.
